Matchbox Motorway

A system of track sets, originally developed by the Arnold company of Germany in the mid-1960s.

The system was suitable for three inch diecast models such as Matchbox Miniatures. It used an electrically powered wire which was located inside the track and to which the models were attached by studs affixed to their baseplates.

In 1968 Lesney purchased the rights to the system and began manufacturing the sets themselves. The series was phased out in 1973.
