Mike Gambit is a fictional British spy who appeared in the television series The New Avengers from 1976 to 1977. Gambit was the first regular male partner of John Steed (Patrick MacNee) since Dr. David Keel (Ian Hendry) who appeared only in the first year of The Avengers. The decision was taken to introduce the Gambit character as it was thought Steed might be too old to believably handle action scenes. Gambit drove a red Jaguar XJS and was played by the British actor Gareth Hunt.
