Something Missing?

Model cars first started to appear in the very early part of the 20th century, alongside real cars. Initially made of tin, they were later cast in lead before Mazak (or Zamak), a zinc alloy, became popular, alongside plastic. A wide variety of scales have been made, with 1/64 and 1/18 the most popular in the US and 1/43 popular in Europe. Other common scales are 1/24, 1/25, 1/32 and more recently, 1/12 and 1/8. Model cars can depict real vehicles or ficitonal, "fantasy" vehicles. Some popular and famous brand names include Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Dinky Toys, Hubley, Tootsie Toy, Johnny Lightning, Corgi Toys, M2 Machines, Politoys/Polistil, Bburago, Maisto and Jada.
