Tantal

Saratov | Brand

Something Missing?

Tantal was a brand of model cars and motorcycles from the former Soviet Union . These models have been sold under different names. A common way to refer to them is to call them Saratov models, after the Saratov Oblast in which they were built.

The model cars became a great success in the Soviet Union and also exported by the state export agency Novoexport. The name Novoexport was also mentioned on the packaging in the 1970s, but later replaced by a wide variety of boxes with different images and inscriptions, after the export was taken over by the export agency Zapchastexport . Due to the export, from the 1980s the text "Made in USSR" was no longer in Cyrillic script on the bottom plates.
