Something Missing?

The New Avengers (1976-1977) was a British-French television series which revived The Avengers (1961-1969). The series saw British actor Patrick MacNee returning as spy John Steed, now assisted by two new partners, Purdey (Joanna Lumley) and Mike Gambit (Gareth Hunt). While the series was quite successful, selling to many contries worldwide, it never quite managed to recapture the spirit of the original. It was also plagued by financing issues, mostly stemming from the unreliability of the French co-producers. Unlike the original series, which was entirely filmed in the UK, some later episodes of The New Avengers were shot in France and Canada.
