LOUIS MARX & CO Ltd was an American company founded in New York by Louis Marx, an ex-employee of Ferdinand Strauss, manufacturer of cheap mechanical toys.

At death of Mr Strauss in 1921, Louis Marx and his brother purchased the dies and founded "LOUIS MARX & CO Ltd".

In 1932 they bought a factory in England, in Dudley (Worcestershire) and produced cheap tinplate toys.

From 1947 they specialized in die-cast toys in mazak and plastic and in trains.

In 1947,they made under the trademark "TOBY TOYS" four die-cast mazak vehicles:
a fire engine, a breakdown lorry, a roadster and a saloon ; the reproduction was crude: non accurate models with a plain paintwork without any painted details.

In 1967 the English brand of LOUIS MARX & CO Ltd was bought up by DUNBEE-COMBEX.

"MARX TOYS" Made in Great Britain was another trademark of LOUIS MARX.
