Vanguards

Brand

Vanguards started as a collection  of '50s and '60s mostly British cars and trucks made by Lledo. The cars and small vans were modelled at 1:43, whilst the larger trucks were at 1:64. Early models were sold in window boxes similar to the Days Gone Range, before the much more familiar carboard, lift-off lid boxes were introduced and the range grew rapidly thereafter.

Following the change of ownership to Corgi in 1999, the Vanguards name continued, with the Lledo name steadily disappearing. The 1:43 cars and small vans from the Corgi Classics range were transferred over to the Vanguards range, many with an increased level of detail. A few models were found in both the Corgi and Lledo ranges - Morris Minors in partiucular - but generally speaking it was the Corgi variant that survived

The range has grown to around 150 castings over the years, and whilst many (including those early 1:64 lorries) have been retired, it is still growing, with cars from the 70s, 80s and now 90s being added.
