ZAMAC

Hot Wheels | Series

Something Missing?

ZAMAC is a metal alloy, which is a base metal of zinc and alloying elements of aluminium, magnesium, and copper. This is the metal alloy that Hot Wheels (and most other diecast cars) are made of.

Cars that aren't painted (bare metal) are considered Zamac cars and these are listed here. They may have graphics or even a gloss coating over the bare metal. The first official Zamac Hot Wheels were made available to collectors at the 1998 Hot Wheels convention.

Mattel released some of the 2004 First Editions in unpainted Zamac which were exclusive to Toys 'R' Us and later also sold at Target stores. Walmart started selling unpainted Zamac releases in 2013 and that has continued every year since then (as of 2021).
