The Belgian integrated police is structured at 2 levels: federal (the "Federale Politie" in Dutch, the "Police Fédérale" in French) and locally (the "Lokale Politie" in Dutch, the ""Police Locale" in French). The "Lokale Politie" consists of 185 police zones, covering 1 or more municipalities. This organisation is in place since 2001. Prior to 2001 the Belgian police consisted of several individual forces, which did not work together well. The main forces were:
