Ruled 7/8 - 37/38 CE
Tiberius Julius Aspurgus Philoromaios was a Roman client king of the Bosporan Kingdom from 7/8 – 37/38 CE. His father, Asander, died in 17 BCE (at the age of 93), but Rome appointed Polemon I of Pontus king. Aspurgus’ mother, Dynamis, married Polemon and become Queen when Polemon died. Dynamis died 7 or 8 CE and Aspurgus became king, although Rome did not officially recognize him as king until 14 CE. Very little is known about his reign but he appears to have been a strong and capable ruler.
