Emek was founded in 1981, taking over the production of 1/20 scale plastic promotional models of Saab and Volvo models from Stahlberg. Both companies eschewed plastic for diecast in the 1980s, however. Emek went on to develop a 1989 Saab 9000 model in two body styles and the 1990 Volvo 240 GL estate.
The Finnish company began producing 1/25 scale plastic truck models in the 1990s and is now concentrating on European trucks with various cabs and body styles.
